NEWS 2014

DECEMBER

What a fabulous end to 2014, Logan is confirmed as TOP GSP, for the 3rd consecutive year! (joint in 2012).  This, coupled with him becoming a Father and having a birthday on Christmas Eve, has made 2014 a very special year. Thanks to everyone for their congrats and support along the way.

CHRISTMAS DAY!! - Greta has her 'family', 2 dogs and a bitch. She's doing very well as are her babes.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, we are looking for a loving home and a place on the sofa for an adorable 6yr old Drysika bitch (sister to our Lily). She is speyed, microchipped, very sociable with dogs and people and in general very well behaved, though may need a spot of re-training in some areas. If you think you can offer this sweet girl a home, please get in touch with us.

PUPPIES PLANNED! - Logan has now been mated to Greta, who has now been scanned and puppies are due  around Christmas Day!. We are very excited about the pairing of these 2 fabulous dogs which are health tested and should produce confident, outgoing puppies. (see their individual pages for more info about each dog).
This is a first litter for both of them so an exciting opportunity awaits people expressing an interest in a puppy.

OCTOBER

MIDLAND COUNTIES CH SHOW - A most enjoyable day was held at the ideal venue at Stafford show ground. Our judge today was Mrs Eunice Ryan who delighted us by awarding Logan his 13th Res CC.

SEPTEMBER

BELFAST CH SHOW - Yes, that's Belfast!! How bonkers is Catherine! We'd never been to this show so Catherine thought she'd give it a go as the judge Dr Ron James had given Logan the Res CC from Junior a couple of years ago with a lovely critique. Catherine and Sue (Harris) had a really enjoyable time and after the show were invited back to Tom and Anne-Marie Mervyns abode for some lovely food and a sleep! A tad too much wine had been consumed the previous night on the ferry from Liverpool to Belfast so a couple of fuzzy heads were evident!

Oh and forgot to mention that Logan 'came of age' and was awarded his 21st CC!

DRIFFIELD CH SHOW -  Another journey into Yorkshire for us Lancastrians, this time to Wetherby Racecourse. Our judge today was Mr Mike Blay and Logey Bear scooped his 20th CC and BOB too! What a fabulous day, to achieve 20 CC's is a milestone that one can only dream about!

Darlington Ch Show - A delightful journey through the Yorkshire countryside to one of our more local shows (only 68 miles each way!). Our judge today was Ms Stevie Allerton (Eshaldwell) and Logan thrilled us by not only winning a large Open dog class, he then went on to claim his 12th Reserve CC.

AUGUST

What a fantastic day we had at City of Birmingham Ch show where Logan scooped his 19th CC and 10th BOB under judge Mr Alan Curry. It was a bit of a family affair in dogs as his brother from a repeat mating (Barleyarch Trumpeter) got the reserve CC. He was then shortlisted in a quality gundog group where he showed and moved like a dream. Pictured above is Barleyarch Trumpeter (left) and Logan.

JULY

A quiet month as usual on the show scene, due to not being able to show our 'fit for purpose' docked dogs at Leeds and East of England. We did go to the GSPC Ch Show where only Logan was entered and was 3rd in Open dog under Mrs Gill Simpson MRCVS (Sireva Weimaraners). It was an honour to take him round the ring though in the Champions Parade, we're so proud of him in every way.

JUNE

BLACKPOOL CH SHOW - After what seems like years of poor Blackpool show suffering with awful weather conditions, this year has been the most perfect weather imaginable for showing dogs and it lasted throughout the whole 3 days of the show!  Mainly sunny, not too warm and with a lovely breeze. We love Blackpool show, although it may have something to do with the fact that it only takes us 40 minutes to get there and we didn't leave till 9a.m.!

Our judge today was Mrs Zena Thorn-Andrews, Logan won Open and the Reserve CC, Greta wasn't entered. We entered the Dog World Open Stakes which Logan won and then he went on to challenge the bitch winner to win it overall! The £25 winnings came in handy too! The stakes judge was Mrs Jill Peak who had given him a Pet plan Junior stakes class at Darlington 2 years ago and she obviously hadn't changed her opinion on him, Then it was on to ice creams all round and then back home by 4p.m!

BORDER UNION CH SHOW - A gorgeous setting for this show at Kelso in the Scottish Borders and at least the rain stayed off this year. Logan ate up the lovely big ring and was awarded 2nd in Open dog today and Greta was 3rd in Limit under the judge Gill Roden (Keigame GSP's). It was lovely to see 2 dogs made up today and 1 is now the breeds latest Full Champion, Ch Crumleigh Magic Max.

3 COUNTIES CH SHOW - This show is at the fantastic venue at Malvern and as the weather was kind the judging was outside. Our judge today was Mrs Sandra Marshall (Lowerdon Hungarian Viszlas) and Logan won a well filled Open class, going on to take his 18th CC!  I still pinch myself on a regular basis as our lovely boy continues to be admired and rewarded! Greta wasn't entered today.

MAY

BATH CH SHOW - This is one of the best showgrounds on the circuit, fabulous big rings, well laid out, short grass and a real summer show! Unfortunately summer wasn't on the cards today and the weather was horrendous with heavy rain, thunder and lightning! No matter, Logan showed his socks off and was awarded his 17th CC, Greta was 3rd in Limit, in a class that the judge said "for depth of quality this was my best class of the day!  It was a first time judging appointment for Becky Johnson (Downstream Flatcoat Retrievers), She had given Logan Group 2 at Manchester Ch Show Gundog Group 2013 but had never judged him against competition so whilst she obviously liked him, it was a different ball game today. Her appreciation of him and his breeding was confirmed when she awarded him the CC and all the other 3 main awards to Barleyarch stock!

Getting off the car park proved exciting today, the mud was amazing and we will be forever grateful to a bunch of ladies (yes, ladies!) who pushed us off and we sailed home with mud splattered everywhere!

SCOTTISH KC CH SHOW - The usual "silly o'clock" get up time for SKC but it was a lovely drive up on a lovely morning.  The time passed quickly and I was chauffered there and back by friend Sue Large and her Springer spaniel Rye (Meadowdale Riot is Madaza) who is looking for his 3rd CC! It proved a fantastic day for us as Logan collected his 16th CC and BOB by Mrs Jenny Miller (Feorlig) and our delightful Greta also won Limit! Mrs Miller was giving tickets for the first time in GSP's so we're so pleased she recognised Logan and Greta's qualities. Unfortunately Sue was 2nd in her class but was very gracious in knowing she was going to be there till the group finished and we finally got home at 10p.m!

Below is a pic of Logan in the group ring.

THE NATIONAL CH SHOW - After what seems like an eternity of not going to a championship show, it was great to be at Stafford and even the showers held off until after the judging. Our judge today was Mr Tony Rainey and he awarded Logan 2nd in Open and he then went on to scoop his 10th Reserve CC. Greta was in her first Limit class and gained a 2nd, both dogs showed really well and we had a lovely day looking at the hordes of new puppies out and catching up with folk. Below is our lovely Greta:

MANCHESTER CH SHOW - The first championship show of 2014 for us and what a start to 2014! Logan wins a top quality Open dog class and goes on to be awarded his 15th CC! He showed his socks off and loved being back in the ring, he was only beaten to BOB by his sister (from a repeat mating), Sh Ch Barleyarch Piper.

Greta was back to 'kangaroo antics' in the ring and was 3rd in Post Grad. More practise needed!
However, today was about celebrating with some lovely folk and we toasted Logan not only being Top GSP 2013, but also gaining his Full Champion status, he was awarded his Show Gundog working certificate at a field trial in Dec 2013. This makes him the breeds current youngest full Champion and the only male and he's only just turned 3! Pam Tait (Benboee GSP's) made a most amazing cake as you can see, thanks to everyone for their support and congrats!
